Fentimans: Sparkling Lime & Jasmine

Fentimans launch a delicious new drink - Sparkling Lime & Jasmine on 1st March (tomorrow) and I was very kindly sent a few bottles* to try and review. This is their first new product since 2013.

It is zingy with a gentle floral note and is a great alternative to alcohol (although I think it would mix well with a shot of gin or vodka).  Made using a time honoured botanical brewing technique which delivers body and depth of flavour.

Light and finely balanced it is refreshing and slightly tart. Sweetness comes from Hyssop Lime Flower and Juniper berries give it a clean and dry citrus note. A botanical infusion of white jasmine flowers give it a floral edge.

It really is delicious and thanks to Fentimans for sending me some to try.  I'm also a huge fan of their Rose Lemonade.  You can see the other drinks in the range HERE.

New In: OSKIA Renaissance 360

I got a sample size of latest launch from OSKIA way back in November in the Cult Beauty goody bag.  Renaissance 360 launches on tomorrow (although you can pre-order right now). See more details HERE. It will cost £65 for 40ml.

The Vitamin rich Day Cream helps to combat the ageing process improving elasticity, reducing fine lines and helping with hydration.  Targeted actives help to reduce pigmentation or discolouration issues. Skin is nourished, luminous and protected with SPF8.

Made with Glutathione, Arbutin, 2 types of Vitamin C, Swiss Cress Liposomes, Vitamins A, C, E and F, MSM, Glactorabinan, Lupin Seed, Opuntia Cactus extract and Hyaluronic Acid. You can read more about the key actives here.

It is nice to use and is scented with rose and chamomile. The cream is fairly lightweight and sinks easily into the skin.  Suitable for all skin types and for the 30+ age group and it's one I'd definitely buy full size as nourishes and cares for my skin and gives it a glowy look.

Buy yours HERE.

February: Lately I've been Loving

ooh so many February loves..

I had an amazing facial* from Vicki at Bliss Body using a combination of products from Just Be Botanicals and a Galvanic current, a hand-held machine which helps lift and tone the skin. It helps to stimulate the facial muscles and helps to penetrate active ingredients into the skin.  See my review of Vicki's Just Be Fresh Faced Facial HERE* and Just Be Anti-Ageing Facial HERE*.

The very gorgeous NectaPerfecta Beautifying Mask (sample*) from Bee Good. This is a seriously lush multi-tasker. See my review HERE.

Huge love for Craft Gin Club I got my first box in February. It's absolutely fantastic. See my review HERE. You can get £10 off your first box with code BEAUTYBALM.

The Joy Book Club sent me their second box* to review (link). I absolutely love this concept and hope to sign up soon.  Sign up HERE (subscriptions available again on 1st March).

I enjoyed amazing cocktails one weekend (love a Porn Star Martini (or a Negroni) at Tonic in Edinburgh.

Just yesterday I got a great cut and colour from Dean at Dean Jones Hairdressing. I got 4" cut from the length (!) and the colour is super shiny and glossy.

Really pleased. The salon also gives you a card to give a friend for £10 off their first visit and a card with three treats which need to be used by a certain time (mine's 31 July) and the treats are - £5 off your next cut, £10 off your next colour and a free treatment with any full price service which I think is a nice (and welcome) touch.

I'm afraid the picture is the best of a bad bunch but you will see how great my hair looks!

What have you been loving in February?

The Perfume Society: Molton Brown The Fine Act of Fragrance Box

The latest The Perfume Society box is Molton Brown's The Fine Act of Fragrance Box (£10 for members £12.50 non-members) Inside also includes a voucher for a tenner off a full size bottle (£39)

I've tried all of them, some I like better than others and one's a bit too masculine for me. The samples are a decent size (1.5ml) so I'll get a few uses from each vial.

My favourite so far is Mesmerising Oud Accord & Gold EDT which has top notes of bergamot, black pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon leaf oil. A heart of rose, elemi oil and black tea. It has leathery notes with honey and tobacco with a base of vetivert, cedarwood, moss and saffron.

I also like Heaveny Gingerlily EDT (I love the body products in this scent). With notes of tuberose, lily, ginger, rose oil, cardamon and cedarwood.

For a mouthwatering citrus fruity blast go for Orange & Bergamot EDT with a fresh juiciness. Simply divine! With top notes of lemon, bergamot and mandarin with a heart of green freshness such as muget and petigrain with a hint of cardamon. Musk helps to prolong the scent while neroli gives an uplifting edge. This is another one I'd buy!

Ylang Ylang EDT was the first one I tried. It has a fresh top note of ylang ylang enhanced with petigrain, lemon, bergamot and Roman chamomile. Jasmine sambac absolute and musk with orange flower absolute and rose absolute make up this scent.

Blossoming Honeysuckle & White Tea EDT has top notes of mandarin and bergamot with a heart of honesuckle and white tea. The base notes are heliotrope and sandalwood.

Fiery Pink Pepper EDT is floral with a spicy note and notes include freesia/rose accord, tangerine, elemi oil, jasmine sambac with musk, patchouli and oakmoss.

Bushukan EDT which has notes of black and pink pepper, petitgrain, lemon, cardamon and rosemary with a base of vetiver, tolu absolute and musk.

I've found Re-Charge Black Pepper EDT to be a bit too masculine for me with black pepper, lemon and ginger top notes, saffron and coriander adding depth with leather, musk and vetiver.

So lots of nice scents to try out!  Did you pick up this set from The Perfume Society?  See more details HERE.

Freyaluna Skincare: Rose Petal Gift Box

Sami Blackford from Freyaluna Skincare popped up on my twitter feed. It had been ages since I'd purchased anything (so I went to peek at the website as you do). I bought a Selection Box way back in July 2012 and received another one in my November 2013 Souk Souk Beauty Box.

The set which caught my eye was the absolutely exquisite Rose Petal Gift Box (£18 plus £3.95 P&P).  It really is gorgeous and smells beautiful.

Inside is:

Stop & Smell the Roses Bath & Body Oil 100ml - I did struggle to remove the cork as it was a little bit dry (a corkscrew helped!) This lush oil is deeply nourishing and scented with roses. There is also a rosebud floating in it. Made using 100% natural oils of grapeseed and jojoba with essential oil of Rosa Centifolia.

To use: add a few drops to your bath, get a loved one to give you a massage or use as a body oil.  It relaxes, calms and moisturises. Love!

Rose & Geranium Herbal Soap 120g - this delicious scented soap is made with shea butter with rose and geranium essential oils. It's great for dry skin types and can also help soothe eczema.

To use: lather over wet skin before rinsing.

Rose Petal Tub Tea Bag - which is exclusive to this box. A single use tea bag which scents and soothes with sea salt, himalayan pink salt, epsom salt and rose petals and buds.

To use: drop into a warm bath before climbing in and relaxing.

I've really enjoyed my re-introduction to this beautiful brand. What's your favourite Freyaluna Skincare product?

Shopping My Stash #71

Here's what I've been reaching for:

My favourite Lippy Girl Rosie Posie Lipstick - I've mentioned it numerous times on the blog and it first came to my attention when Hephzibah at GFMGFY reviewed it and it was a case of "the blogger made me buy it". It's a lippy I wear often (a lot).

Julie Hewett Camellia Lip Balm Stick - a deeply moisturising lip balm with natural UV protection. It really is a luxe treat for dry lips. It can also be worn under your lipstick.

Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Prime & Brightener (7ml) - this came via a Latest in Beauty Build your Own Box and I absolutely love it! It gives the skin a perfect luminous base for foundation.

Oliver Bonas Blackberry Musk Fragrance Roll On - I bought this while doing my Christmas shopping (a gift for me is always on the cards then). See my review HERE. It's one I'd buy again.

ReCover Correct & Conceal Red* - a brilliant solutions based concealer which corrects facial redness. I love it for hiding broken capillaries around my nose. See my review HERE.

What have you been reaching for lately?

Lush: Salted Coconut Hand Scrub

I popped into Lush at the beginning of the week as I still had some money on a gift card from my birthday. I had been going to pick up Ocean Salt (my favourite Lush product) but I spotted Salted Coconut Hand Scrub (130g - £7.95, 300g - £13.95) and being a lover of hand scrubs I went for this.

Apply to dry hands and rub together like you would if you were washing your hands. The scrub has the perfect amount of scrubby-particles (sea salt) which deeply exfoliate the hands while coconut oil nourishes. It's scented with Sweet Gorse (which is slightly coconutty). My hands are left feeling revitalised, clean, soft and moisturised.

Have you tried this? Do you use a hand scrub?

Oskia Renaissance Hand Cream

My pal Julie gave me this gorgeous hand cream as part of my Christmas. I've been lusting after it for ages. It's been in the basket and out the basket at Love Lula so it was a great surprise to unwrap at Christmas time.

I'm a huge fan of the brand having reviewed their Little Luxuries trio* (review) and I also enjoyed an amazing Oskia Signature Glow Facial at Aspen Therapies* (review).

As with all the products in the range the hand cream is super luxe. It's pale pink and scented with Rose & Chamomile. It softens, soothes, nourishes and combats dryness and age spots and is great for mature, dry and winter weathered hands.  It absorbs quickly leaving the hands feel comfortable and deeply moisturised.  Use as needed throughout the day or it can be used as a rejuvenating night treatment (pop some cotton gloves on top before going to sleep).

Macadamia Seed and Rosa Canina oils which are rich in Omegas deeply hydrate while Swiss Garden Cress liposomes reduce pigmentation and age spots to even tone and improve radiance. Butterbur and Shea Butter soothe and nourish while organic AHAs remove dead skin cells.  Pomegranate extract enhances the lipid barrier to protect and maintain moisture.

A bio-available blend of magnesium, iron, zinc, copper and silicon stimulate cell renewal for anti-ageing benefits.

As you've probably guessed by now I love this hand cream and it's one I'll definitely replenish when this one is done. Have you used it? What's your favourite Oskia product?

Bee Good NectaPerfecta Beautifying Mask

Whew it's a bit of a mouthful Bee Good NectaPerfecta Beautifying Mask* I've been testing out a small pot of this bee goodness and being a lover of a multi-tasker it's got my name written all over it! Full size (100ml) is £39.50 and for a limited time you can pick up a 15ml trial size with any order over a tenner direct from Bee Good.

It really is the most lushest thing - it smells slightly of honey and is suitable for all skin types. It can be used 4 ways (but I've also used it to tame flyaways and as a lip balm)

Facial Complexion Booster: apply for 60 seconds for a flash facial, 5-10 minutes to boost your complexion or for a full hour for a pampering facial. Whatever the time will allow. Remove with a warm, damp muslin cloth.

Weekly Scalp Treatment: apply to the scalp massaging a small amount warmed in your palm. Leave for 5-10 minutes before rinsing.

Hand Rescue Remedy: use on hands and nails massaging the rich cream into dry and rough areas. Can also be used as an overnight hand treatment.

SOS Mask: massage into dry elbows, knees and feet for deep nourishment. Can be left on overnight or gently removed with a warm cloth.

The mask is stuffed full of good things for the skin such as Natural Fruit Acids which exfoliate and help to minimise fine lines, Wheatgerm and Camelina oils which are rich in Vitamins, Beeswax, Jojoba, Mimosa and Sunflower Oils which help to lock in moisture. British Wildflower honey hydrates, Propolis purifies and refines while Bisabol balances and calms.

It's really a fantastic product. Have you tried it? Buy yours from Bee Good or QVC

Blue Labelle: Rhassoul Lava Clay Powder

I recently treated myself to Blue Labelle's latest launch - Rhassoul Lava Clay Powder with spoon and bamboo brush. I picked it up on special offer but it currently costs a reasonable £19.

The Rhassoul Lava Clay Powder (200g) is hand dug from caves at the foot of the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. It has a superior mineral content with magnesium and silica which are great for glowing and healthy skin. You can use the mud as a face scrub, a mask and to clean body and hair.

To use: using the spoon add one flat scoop of clay powder to a ceramic bowl. Place on top 1.5 spoon of water, covering the powder. Leave to activate for five minutes. On your return the clay should have a consistency of a thick mousse.

Mask: steam face and then apply the activated paste to your skin using the bamboo brush (this is a real luxe treat!) in a thick layer. It should feel cooling and refreshing. Sit back and relax. When you feel the mask beginning to dry remove with warm water and a cloth and follow with a facial oil to seal in the benefits of the treatment. You can also use a floral hydrosol instead of water when making the paste. A few drops of a facial oil can also be added. I did take a pic but I looked too awful for words!

Face Scrub: apply the activated clay paste with the brush or your fingers and massage gently over the face and neck (avoiding eye area). This will slough off dead skin cells and draw out toxins leaving the skin radiant and renewed. Remove with warm water.

Hair Wash/Mask: make a thinner paste and apply to damp hair massaging for a few minutes before combing through and rinsing.  The clay absorbs dirt and oil from the hair while replenishing it with minerals.

Spot Treatment: dab a little activated clay to your spot to draw out toxins and heal.

A 200g jar should make 40 face masks.  A treatment will take around 30 minutes.  I've been really impressed with the performance of the clay powder and love that it's multi-purpose.

What's your favourite face mask?

Recent Purchases

Here's my recent purchases. I'll review them more fully shortly:

I couldn't resist this little set from Neal's Yard Remedies (£20) which includes a bath oil & massage oil (9ml each) in Soothing, Rose & Pomegranate and Geranium & Orange. It's the perfect treat/gift.

I recently came across Memento Scents, a botanical vegan perfumery. I picked up three solid perfumes and was sent one of the new roller-ball scents* to review.

SpaceNK were recently offering a free goody bag with a £20 spend - I couldn't resist and picked up my first Diptyque Candle. I chose the gorgeous Tubereuse which is the most intoxicating and expensive floral perfume in the world. The scent is a deep lush floral which scents the whole room.

I've been working my way through the scents I received in my 4160Tuesdays Advent Calendar (review) and the two I've gone onto buy so far are the gorgeous London 1969 and Raw Silk & Red Roses.

I used Roullier White's fantastic sample service to try Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 before purchasing the travel size (30ml - £27) at Cult Beauty. It's an amazing scent which works with your chemistry so it smells differently on everyone. Two people have asked me so far what's that smell!

Have you bought any beauty products lately?

Budget Beauty: Aldi Lacura Argan Oil & Caviar Illumination Ranges

Aldi have some great skincare and bodycare ranges (I've recently spotted a Grape range which is free from parabens, silicons, mineral oils and also free from artificial colours). Next time I'm in Aldi I'm definitely checking it out!

Their Organic Argan Oil range is launching again for a limited time on 21 February. The range costs from £1.79 to £2.99 so it is very easy on the pocket.

I've been testing out the Nurturing Shower Gel (£1.79) which gently cleanses the skin, Anti-ageing Body Lotion (£1.79) which you can actually feel firming and nourishing the skin as you use it, Anti-ageing Hand Cream (£1.79) which nourishes leaving the hands feeling soft and moisturised and Carino Cream Treatment (£2.99) which is suitable for all hair types but is especially good for smoothing down frizzy hair leaving it shiny, smooth and healthy. The products have a pleasant floral scent and work very well. My favourite is the Carino Cream Treatment.

I'm also testing out the Caviar Illumination Day and Night Creams (£6.99 each). I used to use La Prairie so I'm keen to see how they compare. I'll review these at a later date.

What's your favourite beauty product from Aldi?

Craft Gin Club: February 2015: Edinburgh Valentine's Gin

Louise, showed a photo of her Craft Gin Club subscription (£40 a month) on one of the beauty groups on Facebook. I rushed off to look (being a huge gin fan) and saw that February's Valentine box included a special bottle from Edinburgh Gin.

Jon and John, the club's founders are so helpful (and reply to emails almost immediately!) I was lucky as they had one February box left - so it was fate that it was going to be mine.

Get £10 off your first box with code BEAUTYBALM

Inside is:

A bottle of Edinburgh Valentine's Gin (70cl - £35) which is made with botanicals of lemon balm, chamomile, lemongrass, juniper, their signature Scottish botanicals along with rose and hibiscus. It really is delicious and perfect mixed with the Fentimans Rose Lemonade (27.5ml - £1.35).

Also inside every box is a enjoyable magazine Ginned! with information about the brands included this month, cocktail recipes and a bit of gin history.

Other extras include: An Edinburgh Gin miniature (5cl - £5), a branded Edinburgh Gin key ring (£3.50) with bottle opener and a bar of Coco Gin & Tonic Chocolate (90g - £4.50).

I like that there is a choice of subscriptions - Every month (my favourite), bi-monthly (1 box every two months) or quarterly (1 box every 3 months).  You can also skip a month if you let the guys know by the 25th of the month.

Previous months have included: West Wind Distillery, The Sabre (not heard of this one!) and Sibling Distillery's The Sibling Gin (another new one to me!) Ones I have tried include the amazing Makar Glasgow Gin and Dunnet Bay's Rock Rose.  You can see the full line up of previous Gins of the Month HERE.

Love Me Beauty Box - February

After last month's fabulous box I kept my subscription for Love Me Beauty for February. There weren't any new choices for me but there were still things available I was happy to have in my stash.

Here's what I chose:

I'm a huge fan of the lovely Eye of Horus Eye Liners so I picked up a shade in Bronze Amulet, a sparkly brown which normally costs around £15 (the box is £13.95 including P&P)

I love Therapie so was happy to pick up another Boost Hair & Body Wash 50ml (worth £10) and the gorgeous Restore Aura Spray 30ml (worth £10).

My final item is a mini 15ml of Omnisens Delice Passion Massage Oil (you can buy this range at Love Lula). It has a mouthwatering sweet coconut scent.

Did you pick up a Love Me Beauty box this month?

Inner-Soul Organics Supreme Comfort Daytime Moisturiser

I've been testing out Inner-Soul Organics Supreme Comfort Daytime Moisturiser (£25 - 55ml)* and it's one of the most beautiful face creams I've ever used.

It is rich so my skin doesn't need a lot and it absorbs quickly leaving it feeling nourished, soft and comfortable. Did I say it also smells amazing! It contains essential oils of Rose Absolute, Rose de Mai and Bergamot.

It gives the skin a lovely radiance and is perfect to use as a base for make up. Suitable for dry/sensitive and mature skin types.

To use: massage onto the skin pressing lightly onto areas which you can see evident signs of ageing, any irritation or dry areas. You can also blend it with Barefaced Beauty Natural Serum for an added boost.

The moisturiser is absolutely jam-packed with good things for the skin - Aloe Vera and Rosehip extracts reduce inflammation and help to rejuvenate the skin reducing fine lines and wrinkles while Red Raspberry Seed oil boost the skins natural immunity, protecting against free radicals and nourishing the skin. Starflower Oil, rich in Omega 6 hydrates and softens.

I was very lucky enough to win a The Beauty Shortlist giveaway of a luxury hamper (back in December 2013 - see my review HERE)

Take 5: Bath Time Products

It's a while since I've done one of these posts - see Skincare HERE, Hand Care HERE, Hair Care HERE and Lipsticks HERE.

These products pictured above are my favourite bath time treats.

MOA Fortifying Green Bath Potion - this is the perfect product to use if you are feeling run down, have flu or after exercise. It revives both the body and mind. See my review HERE.

I'm now on at least my third bottle of Weleda's Arnica Muscle Soak which revives and restores and was one of my favourite products from 2015. See my review HERE.

I've always said if I could only use one bath product it would be these relaxing and deep sleep inducing Himalayan Detox Salts from Therapie which I've always got in my stash. See my review HERE.

REN's Moroccan Rose Otto Bath Oil is the nicest and most indulgent rose scented bath products I've ever used. I use it sparingly as I love it so much. See my review HERE.

Finally, it had to be a gorgeous Aromatherapy Associates Bath & Shower Oil. This one Inner Strength, is my favourite along with Deep Relax. These oils just transport you to another planet. Soothing, reviving, relaxing - just whatever you need at the time. See my review of Inner Strength HERE.

Do we share any bath time favourites?

Saach Organics: Liquorice & Carrot Seed Day Protection Lotion & Sunscreen SPF15

Having tried and loved Saach Organics Green Tea & Aloe Vera Shower Gel* and Hand & Body Lotion* REVIEW, Mint & Rosemary Hand & Body Lotion* REVIEW and Hair Nourishment Conditioner* and Herbal Hair Oil* REVIEW I knew there was a pretty good chance I'd also like their Liquorice & Carrot Seed Day Protection Lotion & Sunscreen SPF15* (£10.95 - 200ml). You can pick the range up at Love Lula and Sophia's Choice.

The lotion comes in a pump action bottle making it easy to dispense as much as you need. It absorbs quickly and leaves the skin with a strong spicy scent which mellows after about half an hour or so.

It's great to use coming into spring and summer as the lotion also cleverly contains SPF15. I know I'll be slapping this on before going to spend the day at the allotment or just walking around in the sunshine. Liquorice Extract protects, Carrot Seed Oil gives protection from sunlight and UV rays and Soyabean and Almond oils nourish.

The products are free from Parabens, Formaldehyde, Sulphates and Petrochemicals.

Have you tried any products from Saach Organics?

Shopping My Stash #70

Antipodes Delight Hand & Body Cream - I've got a lot of love for this gorgeous brand and definitely want to try more from it this year. See my review HERE. It's a beautiful cream scented with Vintage Gardenia petals with green notes.

Studio 78 Liquid Lipstick in Let's Get Married - Rose Wedding - it's an intense deep rose and is highly pigmented and also stays on all day/night.

Grown Alchemist Watermelon and Vanilla Lip Balm - which is the lushest and most delicious balm I own. Glossy too.

Mitchell & Peach Flora No.1 Fine Radiance Oil - this is a really fab nourishing oil which I received in a YOU Beauty Box which is packed with anti-oxidants and vitamins. It blurs fine lines, plumping and adding radiance to the skin.

Avalon Organics Volumising Rosemary Shampoo - having loved Avalon's Clarifying version (review) I picked up a couple more. This volumising shampoo is fantastic and leaves the hair looking fuller, shiny and clean. Love this brand.
